Latarsha Woods
At the age of 5 Latarsha had a dream about being older and singing on a stage to a crowd of people. Somehow she knew that dream foretold her future, but had no clue as to how it would happen. Dancing was also a desire God placed on the inside of her and she began training as a dancer at the Kelly Davidson School of Dance at the age of 5 in Petersburg, Va. where her gifts began cultivation. She eventually joined the Playmaker Fellow Group of Performing Arts under the direction of Marie Maniego. There she mastered the art of African Dance and began training as an actor. Latarsha was featured in one of Playmaker Fellows most successful plays "The Color Purple" where she played Squeaks the love interest of Harpo who gets knocked out by Sophia in the juke joint scene.Soon after joining she began traveling with the Company Dancers and was performing all over the state and abroad.
Building upon her excitement as a performing artist Latarsha would soon grace the stages of pageants and talent shows throughout her teenage years. During Latarsha high school years she joined the Petersburg High School marching band as a majorette and in her Junior and Senior year she become one of the captains of her squad.
During her college years at Virginia State University she was apart of the VSU Trojan Explosion Band performing with the majorette squad "Troy Elegance" her Freshman & Sophomore years, and then her Junior year she performed with the Essence of Troy dance squad. Latarsha also was a member of the VSU Gospel Choral.
As a member of her family church, Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Petersburg Va., Latarsha hailed as a proud member of the church’s School of the Performing Arts Praise Dance Team, Youth Praise Team and Youth Choir. Ultimately after re-dedicating her life back to The Lord in 2002, Latarsha in her quest of restoration, made up in her heart, mind and soul that she would from that day forward focus in on her relationship with the Lord! She aggressively began focusing more on using her gifts & talents to give GOD glory!!!!!
She began writing songs that expressed her love for The Lord and her faith, and released her first CD in 2006 titled {Come Home}. In 2007 Latarsha along with her husband and Life Partner Travis Woods launched their company TNT Entertainment an organization that exclusively promotes programs within the community to help uplift and encourage families to live out their God Given Purpose. In 2010 Latarsha released her single Amazing Grace which received massive air play on the local level as well as radio stations abroad. She has graced the stage with many Gospel Greats such as Yolanda Adams, Ce Ce & Be Be Winans, Byron Cage, Earl Bynum and Regina Bell. While singing is a joy for Latarsha, dancing remains to be a passion in which whenever she had time in her schedule, you would find her praise dancing or teaching dance. As recent as 2003 Latarsha taught dance at Sisterly Grace dance and modeling studio and would travel and dance with the company as well. While serving with Sisterly Grace, Latarsha had the privilege of modeling for a program at the White House, as well as teaching a number of students who have gone on to become very successful dancers.
Hence, Anoint the Runway debuts from an idea the Lord gave Latarsha in 2007. Latarsha has been used as a conduit for The Lord to download ideas into her spirit, specifically about teaching youth how to be a top model for Him! Developing tools such as building confidence in the heart by introducing the student to our creator and then themselves. In 2012 the idea became realty when Anoint the Runway hit the stage with its first show entitled "Rehab" at Youth Impact. A youth conference held yearly and birthed from the heart and mind of her husband Travis Woods, Jr. With a combined passion of dance and singing constantly ringing in her heart Latarsha opened Anoint the Runway School of a Performing Arts on October 4, 2014 which includes A.T.R. Model Bootcamp, Camp Destiny , & A.T.R. Princess Boutique. Specializing in dance, modeling, acting and vocal lessons, Latarsha’s hope is to pass on her love and passion for the arts to as many teachable and talented students with the gift of the arts.
